Capel Rugs has announced a 100th anniversary party for retailers, designers and the media on April 23 at the High Point Market to celebrate the company’s centennial year.

The festivities will kick off with an NC-based Biltmore champagne toast at noon on Sunday, April 23 in the company’s showroom in Historic Market Square, Space 112. The toast will include remarks by Capel Rugs founder A. Leon Capel’s sons Leon Capel Jr., Jesse Capel and Arron Capel, who led the company as co-directors from the 1970s until the 2010s. The toast will be followed by an all-American lunch along with ice cream, cake and cake pop favors. During the celebration, Capel’s second generation of company leadership will be sharing stories and signing the 100th anniversary product catalog upon request.

Hosts for the event will be Cameron Capel, vice president of national accounts; Mary Clara Capel, director of marketing; Ron Capel, managing director – retail; and Richard Capel, director of manufacturing, part of the current third generation of company leadership.

“We invite all of our dealers, designers and other members of the extended Capel family to join us for this festive High Point Market celebration,” said Cameron Capel, adding that the theme for the company’s centennial year is ‘100 Years of Heritage in Every Rug’.

He proudly stated, “One hundred years in business is a major milestone, and this achievement underscores our long tradition of providing the very best quality, service and customer satisfaction. Our dealers are like family, so we’re excited to share this anniversary with them.”

At market, Capel Rugs also will give away limited-edition tote bags produced from rugs made at its factory in Troy, N.C. The tote bag, which will carry the 100th anniversary logo, will be offered to the first 100 showroom visitors. In addition, Capel’s new special centennial edition catalog will make its official debut in High Point, with copies available to visitors throughout market.

As part of its anniversary celebration, Capel Rugs has been building excitement with two commemorative rugs introduced during winter markets. The first new collection — New Homestead — is a revival of the company’s iconic Old Homestead rug, the first braided chenille rug ever made. The new version features an updated construction and fresh, on-trend colorways.

Capel Rugs also introduced a new version of Yorktowne, one of its most popular braided designs from the 1980s. Made in North Carolina, the updated version of Yorktowne features a cross sewn rectangular shape that gives the original colonial-style design a modern spin.

Both New Homestead and Yorktowne will make their debut with High Point buyers at the Market from April 22 to 26.
