Hastens is going to inaugurate new retail location in Virginia

High-end bedding producer Hastens will be opening a new store in Tyson’s Galleria later in the summer.

There are approximately 200 Hastens locations worldwide. The company says this is the first location in the southeastern U.S., where the next closest store is located in New York City. Founded in 1852, Hastens is the official bedding supplier of the Swedish royal court. Many of the company’s beds cost more than six-figures, with the most popular model priced at $27,500.

The company has also announced the debut of what it’s calling the world’s most expensive bed – the Vividus, priced around $150,000. The bed is handmade with layers of natural materials like horsehair, according to the company, which allows the mattress to maintain a comfortable body temperature.

The horsehair is braided by hand and then unwound before it’s placed in the mattress which company officials say gives it a bounce similar to a small spring. The company says the bed takes 320 hours to make.

Customers who decide to purchase the bed can work with a sleep consultant to personalize the mattress. They are also given a private VIP experience when they shop for the bed while they are guided through its construction.

Hastens has partnered with luxury cruise line Regent to offer the Vividus bed in several of the ship’s 375 suites when the Seven Seas Splendor cruise ship sails for the first time in February 2020.

The company also showed for the first time at the recent winter Las Vegas Market where it had one of the company’s craftspeople from its factory in Köping, Sweden, onsite to demonstrate the side-stitching technique that’s used in the creation of each bed.
