Case goods resource Avalon Furniture has hired Jay Johnson as vice president, quality control and product compliance. Johnson comes to the company from Largo International where he was vice president, product development, since August 2013. Before that he was director of product at Coaster for nearly four years and previously held sourcing and product development roles at Trade Masters LLC and Fraenkel Company. In his new position, he will manage four overseas quality control teams including two in Vietnam and one each in Indonesia and Malaysia.
He reports to Avalon Furniture President Mike Bradshaw, who largely handled these areas of responsibility previously. Bradshaw said that Johnson will be instrumental in making sure that factories are providing consistent product and product that also meets regulations.
“He has got a lot of experience and is very knowledgeable and is very detail oriented and respected,” Bradshaw said of Johnson.
