According to a recent report, there is a growing number of children and youth in Sacramento County who are homeless or living in unstable housing conditions. In partnership with HomeAid Sacramento, a nonprofit provider of housing for today’s homeless, CORT helped to open a new center for homeless youth and young people at risk of becoming homeless in Downtown Sacramento.
Wind Youth Services Center is located at the corner of 8th and S streets and is twice the size of the old facility, which will remain open as a 20-bed shelter. The new center features everything from hot meals, showers and laundry, to art therapy, employment support, financial workshops and case management.
“We jumped at the opportunity to work with HomeAid Sacramento on this project,” said Carlos Revilla, District Retail Manager for CORT in Sacramento. “Not only is it a worthy cause, but it’s an important one. We need to do everything we can to give young people the tools and services they need to overcome unstable circumstances and be successful in life.” Carlos added further.
