Designer Michel Smith Boyd debuts rugs for Z Gallerie

Interior designer and artist Michel Smith Boyd is bringing his point of view to an exclusive line of rugs for Z Gallerie.  This collaboration marks the first introduction of designs that expand beyond Z Gallerie’s collection of Boyd’s art.

“My style is luxurious but approachable. It’s always rooted in fashion, and I take my cues from art and travel. These designs are just that — everyday, elevated luxury that you can live in,” said Boyd. “Rugs are grounding and help delineate areas for multiple functions and moods, otherwise your furniture is just floating. If the floor is the ocean, rugs are the islands. My sincere hope is that these rugs will bring a sense of approachable luxury into your home and to create an island for everyone.”

The collection launches with five heirloom-quality rugs, each inspired by Art Deco lines and the beauty of African textiles.

• Syd: Classic shapes meet a classic palette with a nod to Deco. Available in both Rose and Ivory.
• Totem: The uniting of two of Boyd’s favorite art studies — sculpture and textiles.
• Miles: Boyd’s abstract take on African textiles.
• Torrie: Inspired by hand-etched brass and carved woods through color and modernity.

The collection launched online on May 12 and will be in stores starting May 21.
