Mohawk Industries kicked off its yearlong celebration of its upscale area rug brand, Karastan, this week at the Las Vegas Market to mark the milestone. Additionally, the company hosted a party at its showroom with industry friends. Among the special guests: Drew and Jonathan Scott, hosts of HGTV series Property Brothers and founders of their joint home furnishings brand, Scott Living.Mohawk recently forged a licensing partnership with Scott Living to exclusively create a multi-channel collection of area rugs.
The program debuts with two collections: the higher-end Artisan for Karastan and the mid-tier Expressions for Mohawk Home.
Artisan rugs are rooted in classic designs illuminated by a palette of mineral-inspired colors. Dustings of cream and gold viscose combine to create polished patterns with detailed texture on a base of Karastan’s own Triexta SmartStrand Silk yarn to achieve a a soft and durable construction that is resistant to staining.
Expressions is a collection of casual modern styles in fresh pops of citron and indigo colors cast alongside neutral hues of grey, beige and black. It is made of Karastan’s own Everstrand recycled polyester yarn.
“We are very excited about our licensing agreement with Scott Living,” Bart Hill, Mohawk Home senior vice president of product and operations, told Furniture Today. “Our partnership is perfect because it takes a tiered approach. It’s the beauty of the Scott Living brand: It commands value at multiple price points and retail channels. And they reach broad consumer base. We are creating product [for Scott Living] across our entire portfolio, from Mohawk Home to Karastan.” Bart concluded.
Karastan will host its next anniversary party during High Point Market in October.
