An interactive kiosk developed by lift chair producer Ultracomfort America has resulted in a measurable spike in lift chair sales and higher average ticket prices for many participating retailers, company officials said.
In addition , the Kiosk houses hanging fabric swatches and brochures relevant to the line. The ultimate goal of the cornerstone program, said Vice President of Sales and Marketing Bob Smith, is to assure retail sales people and consumers that the perfect lift chair is being sold.
“Lift chairs, or as we like to refer to them, ‘power recliners that lift,’ are still a murky water for a lot of furniture retailers as well as the individuals on their sales team,” said Smith. “With the changes in Medicare and the aging Baby Boomer population, we saw a need to make the process of flooring and selling ‘power recliners that lift’ as simple as possible.” He added.
Since the program was introduced, Smith said some retailers have seen lift chair sales increase by as much as 50%. “We are preparing our retailers for a category that will eventually become one of their largest in the years to come,” said Smith.
