Williams-Sonoma brand West Elm is opening a new 15,000-square-foot retail outlet in Industry City, a 35-acre creative campus located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. “West Elm is a Brooklyn-born brand, and it is only fitting that they open their first NYC-based outlet at Industry City,” said Jim Somoza, Industry City director of development. “The new location sits among the best-in-class design retail with Design Within Reach, Restoration Hardware, ABC Carpet & Home, and Porcelanosa, while also part of a broader creative community of furniture retailers, makers, architects, and design firms.”

The retailer’s new 15,000-square-foot location will showcase diverse collections of its original, modern designs, which focus on quality, craftsmanship, and sustainable materials. The outlet builds upon the company’s growing presence at Industry City, which currently houses West Elm Makers Studio, a 120,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art creative workspace for artists, designers, and craftsmen. In 2015, West Elm established this in-house design and photo studio at Industry City, which serves as a hub for the company’s experimentation and collaboration.

West Elm began in Brooklyn in 2002 as a design company dedicated to “transforming people’s lives through creativity, style and purpose.” The company currently includes more than one hundred locations worldwide.
